Overview
On the centennial of the iconic Lebanese poet, playwright and thinker Mansour Rahbani, Ousafirou Wahdi Malikan (I Travel Alone, As a King) is a monumental oratorio composed from 34 selected poems that reflect the vast emotional, philosophical and national landscape of Rahbani’s legacy.
With original music composed and conducted by Oussama Rahbani, this work brings together a full symphonic orchestra and a mass choir, staged within the sacred and historic setting of the Church of Sacré-Cœur in Gemmayze. The oratorio blends Western classical traditions with Oriental melodic sensibilities, illuminating Mansour’s words through a rich and evocative musical language.
Ousafirou Wahdi Malikan is more than a concert, it is a cultural and spiritual journey that echoes Mansour Rahbani’s voice in themes of exile, sovereignty, inner strength and national identity. As the poet once envisioned travelling alone, like a king – proud, unshaken and visionary – this performance stands as a timeless tribute to his enduring influence on Arabic literature, music and thought.
