Abu Dhabi Festival hosts insightful talk with commissioned artists of landmark exhibition ‘Portrait of a Nation’
Talk welcomes Sarah Al Agroobi, Aisha Juma and Hind bin Demaithan for an evening at Emirates Palace Gallery
Abu Dhabi Festival last night welcomed Sarah Al Agroobi, Aisha Juma and Hind bin Demaithan for an insightful talk looking at how the three artists created their exceptional pieces of artwork for the 2016 Festival’s headline exhibition Portrait of a Nation. Detailing how Al Agroobi travelled the seven Emirates to create her sculpture The Desert Rose, how Juma embarked on a journey of to create her piece Inner Pilgrimage, and how Demaithan combined traditional Sadu weaving with LCD screens in Sadu Pixel, the talk offered a fascinating glimpse into the artists’ creative processes.
Open at the Emirates Palace Gallery until 10 May, Portrait of a Nation features 20 commissioned pieces of artwork by 20 renowned Emirati artists. The Abu Dhabi Festival is presented and organised by Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation.
